Forthcoming Events
Thursday 20th November 2008 - Birkbeck Living Wage Campaign Public Meeting, 5pm, Birkbeck Bar, Malet Street.

Birkbeck Living Wage Campaign have invited the MP John McDonnell to speak to a public meeting on why Birkbeck should adopt the London Living Wage. McDonnell is an alumnus of Birkbeck who has been a strong advocate for the College and for part-time higher education. Speaking alongside McDonnell will be Stalin Bermudez, Chair of SOAS Unison branch, representing our successful Living Wage Campaign.
Birkbeck staff and students were at the forefront of our Campaign throughout. It's time we returned that solidarity. All SOAS Living Wage Campaign supporters are encouraged to attend.

Wednesday 3rd December - Birkbeck Living Wage Campaign Protest Rally, 5pm, Birkbeck Main Entrance, Malet Street.

Birkbeck Living Wage Campaign are calling their first protest to show how strongly they feel about this issue. They argue that if SOAS, Queen Mary, the LSE and even Boris Johnson's GLA (!!) can give its employees the Living Wage, why can't Birkbeck?!
The rally has been scheduled to coincide with the autumn term meeting of the College's Board of Governors. The Birkbeck Living Wage Campaign are hoping to have high-profile supporters associated with Birkbeck College speaking at their rally. We would encourage all SOAS Living Wage Campaign supporters to attend.
